A commonly called “Alberta PNP draw” is an official selection round conducted by the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP), where the province invites qualified candidates from its Expression of Interest (EOI) pool or the Express Entry pool to apply for provincial nomination.
These draws are similar in concept to federal Express Entry draws, but they operate independently under Alberta’s own priorities and labour market needs. They are part of Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
Alberta PNP draws are periodic selection rounds where the province invites candidates from a pool to apply for a provincial nomination. Candidates first submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) or have an active Express Entry profile, and Alberta then selects individuals based on factors such as work experience, occupation, and alignment with provincial labour market needs.
The province issues Notifications of Interest (NOIs) or invitations to those selected, allowing them to apply for nomination, which can lead to permanent residence.
Alberta conducts PNP draws throughout the year across different streams:
There is no fixed schedule for Alberta PNP draws. The province conducts draws throughout the year based on application volumes, labour shortages, and available nomination spaces. This means the next draw can happen at any time.
There is no fixed minimum score. Each draw has its own cutoff, which varies by stream and target group. Some draws have relatively low scores when targeting specific occupations or workers already in Alberta.
