What are Prince Edward Island PNP Draws?

A Prince Edward Island PNP draw is an official selection round conducted by the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP), where the province invites eligible candidates from its Expression of Interest (EOI) pool to apply for provincial nomination.

These draws are similar in concept to federal Express Entry draws, but they operate independently under Prince Edward Island’s own economic priorities and labour market needs. They are part of Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), designed to help provinces select immigrants who can contribute to their local economy and communities.

How do Prince Edward Island Draws Work?

Prince Edward Island PNP draws are regular selection rounds where the province invites candidates from its EOI pool to apply for a provincial nomination. The province usually holds one draw per month, often on the third Thursday, but dates can change. Interested candidates must first create an online profile and submit an Expression of Interest, which is then ranked based on factors such as age, education, work experience, language ability, and connections to Prince Edward Island.

Prince Edward Island selects candidates who demonstrate strong potential to settle successfully in the province and meet its labour market demands. Those selected receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA), which allows them to submit a full application to the PEI PNP.

If approved, candidates receive a provincial nomination. This nomination can then be used to apply for permanent residence with the federal government. Candidates nominated through the PEI Express Entry stream receive 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points, which leads to an invitation in a following Express Entry draw.

Which are the Streams of Prince Edward Island PNP Draws?

Prince Edward Island PNP draws are conducted across several immigration streams, grouped into three categories:

• PEI Express Entry: For candidates who have an active profile in the federal Express Entry system and meet Prince Edward Island’s criteria.
• Labour Impact category: For candidates with a job offer from a Prince Edward Island employer. It includes three streams:
  • Skilled Worker stream: For skilled workers with a full-time job offer from a Prince Edward Island employer.
  • Critical Worker stream: For workers in in-demand occupations who are already working for a Prince Edward Island employer.
  • International Graduate stream: For recent graduates of eligible Prince Edward Island institutions who have a job offer from a local employer.
• Business Impact category:
  • Business Work Permit stream: For entrepreneurs who plan to invest in and operate a business in Prince Edward Island.

Each stream has its own eligibility criteria, and draws may target one or more streams depending on Prince Edward Island’s current economic and labour market priorities. In 2026, all draws so far have targeted the Labour Impact and Express Entry streams, with a focus on workers in healthcare, trades, and manufacturing, and on graduates of local institutions.
