Ontario PNP Scoring Factors for the Ontario Workforce Priority Stream

Your profile will be evaluated based on five scoring factors: Employment and Labour Market Factors, Education, Language Proficiency, and Regional Localization, depending on the job’s location in Ontario.

Note: The score factors listed below include the latest update published on October 5, 2026, by the province of Ontario.

Employment and Labour Market Factors

NOC TEER Category

The TEER (training, education, experience, and responsibility) category of your job indicates the level of skill and training necessary for the position. This is determined by the second digit of your job’s National Occupational Classification (NOC) code. Positions that require higher skill levels, classified as TEER 0 and 1, receive more points compared to those that are lower-skilled.

NOC Broad Occupational Category

What’s a competitive score for the Ontario Workforce Priority Stream?

There is no official competitive score yet. As of October 8, 2026, Ontario has not held or published any draws under the Ontario Workforce Priority Stream, so there are no cut-off scores to compare against. Be careful with any website that quotes past cut-offs for this stream.

Ontario does not set a pass mark. In each draw, it invites the highest-scoring profiles, so the score you need depends on:

  • How many people are in the pool and how they score
  • How many invitations Ontario issues in that draw
  • Who Ontario targets. Draws can focus on specific occupations, regions or pathways.

What past OINP draws tell us

Before the redesign, most 2026 OINP draws targeted specific NOC codes and regions, and cut-off scores changed from draw to draw. For example, in April 2026 the Employer Job Offer: Foreign Worker stream invited candidates with scores from 57 (GTA) to 63 (Eastern Ontario). These scores used a different points grid, so you cannot compare them directly with your Workforce Priority score. They do show that your occupation and job location can matter as much as your total score.

Check all the OINP latest draws as soon as they happen here!

How to tell if your profile is strong

While we wait for the first draws, your profile is likely to be in a stronger position if you have:

  • CLB 8 or higher in all four language skills
  • At least 6 months of full-time work in your job offer position
  • A job offer outside the City of Toronto, especially in Northern Ontario
  • A job in health (category 3) or the trades (category 7)
  • An hourly wage of $30 or more

Tips to Maximize Your Ontario Priority Stream Score

  1. Improve Your Weakest Language Skill: Ontario uses your lowest Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) score, not your average. Focus on enhancing that particular skill.
  2. Choose the Correct Test: Only specific tests are accepted for this stream. Ensure you take the IELTS Academic, PTE Academic, or a One Skill Retake, as other results will not be recognized.
  3. Claim Points You Can Prove: Make sure to only claim points for qualifications or experiences that you can verify with documentation. If you’re invited to apply, you’ll need to submit evidence for every point you claimed. Failing to provide proof may result in refusal.
  4. Update Your Expression of Interest (EOI) If Circumstances Change: Be sure to revise your EOI if you receive new test results or gain additional work experience.

Ontario PNP Points FAQS

How do I calculate my OINP score?

Add up your points for each of Ontario’s 11 scoring factors: TEER, occupational category, hourly wage, Ontario work experience, Canadian earnings, legal status, education, Canadian credentials, language ability, knowledge of both official languages and job location. The easiest way is to answer the 10 questions in the Moving2Canada calculator, which adds up your points for you.

Read our detailed guide about Ontario Workforce Priority Score factors here.

What is the maximum score for the Ontario Workforce Priority Stream?

The maximum score is 132 points. It rose from 130 on October 5, 2026, when Ontario added a 10-point band for Canadian earnings of $80,000 or more in one year.

How many points do I need to get an invitation for the Ontario Workforce Priority Stream?

No one knows yet. Ontario has not held a Workforce Priority draw as of October 8, 2026, and it does not publish a minimum score. The highest-ranked profiles in each draw are invited.

Is my OINP score the same as my Express Entry CRS score?

No. Your OINP score is out of 132 and only ranks you in Ontario’s EOI pool. Your CRS score is out of 1,200 and is used for federal Express Entry.

How do Canadian earnings points work?

Ontario looks at your highest income in a single year, shown on a CRA Notice of Assessment from the last 5 years. Earnings of $80,000 or more get 10 points. You cannot combine income from different years.

Do I get points if my job is in Toronto?

No. A job offer in the City of Toronto gets 0 points for job location. Jobs elsewhere in the GTA (Durham, Halton, Peel or York) get 5 points, jobs in Eastern, Central (outside the GTA) or Southwestern Ontario get 10 points, and jobs in Northern Ontario get 15 points. You can still be invited with a Toronto job if your other factors score well.

Do I need to update my EOI for the October 2026 earnings change?

No. Ontario applied the change automatically to all existing EOIs. You do not need to log in to the e-Filing Portal.

Does a high score guarantee an invitation?

No. Ontario can target specific occupations, regions or pathways in each draw. You must also meet every eligibility requirement and prove every point you claimed.
