The Newfoundland Skilled Worker stream is a cornerstone of Newfoundland's immigration policy, designed to welcome newcomers to the province of Newfoundland and Labrador and help existing foreign workers in Newfoundland transition to permanent residence.

Eligible applicants to the Newfoundland Skilled Worker stream are required to have a guaranteed offer of employment from a local employer, or be currently working in the province on a valid work permit. The Newfoundland Skilled Worker stream is part of the Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP), one of Canada’s Provincial Nominee Programs.

The Newfoundland Skilled Worker stream is not aligned with the federal Express Entry system. Therefore, successfully applicants do not obtain 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points and an invitation to apply through Express Entry. Rather, with a provincial nomination obtained through the Newfoundland Skilled Worker stream, you can apply for Canadian permanent residence outside Express Entry.

Newfoundland offers a separate stream for Express Entry candidates.
