What are Manitoba PNP Draws?

A Manitoba PNP draw is an official selection round conducted by the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), where the province invites eligible candidates from its Expression of Interest (EOI) pool to apply for provincial nomination.

These draws are similar in concept to federal Express Entry draws, but they operate independently under Manitoba’s own economic priorities and labour market needs. They are part of Canada’s Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), designed to help provinces select immigrants who can contribute to their local economy and communities.

How do Manitoba Draws Work?

Manitoba PNP draws are periodic selection rounds where the province invites candidates from its EOI pool to apply for a provincial nomination. Interested candidates must first create an online profile and submit an Expression of Interest, which is then ranked based on factors such as education, work experience, language ability, and connections to Manitoba.

Manitoba selects candidates who demonstrate strong potential to settle successfully in the province and meet its labour market demands. Those selected receive a Letter of Advice to Apply (LAA), which allows them to submit a full application to the MPNP.

If approved, candidates receive a provincial nomination. This nomination can then be used to apply for permanent residence with the federal government. In some cases, candidates aligned with the Express Entry system may receive additional benefits, such as increased ranking scores.

Which are the Streams of Manitoba PNP Draws?

Manitoba PNP draws are conducted across several immigration streams, each targeting different types of candidates:

  • Skilled Workers in Manitoba: For individuals who are already working in Manitoba with a valid job offer and have established ties to the province.
  • Skilled Workers Overseas: For candidates outside Canada who can demonstrate a strong connection to Manitoba, such as family, previous education or work experience, or an invitation through a strategic recruitment initiative.
  • International Education Stream
For recent graduates from Manitoba institutions who meet specific criteria and intend to remain in the province.
  • Business Investor Stream: For entrepreneurs and investors who plan to establish or purchase a business in Manitoba.

Each stream has its own eligibility criteria, and draws may target one or more streams depending on Manitoba’s current economic and labour market priorities.

What is a good CRS score for Manitoba PNP Draws?

Manitoba does not use the federal Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) for its main selection process. Instead, it uses its own Expression of Interest (EOI) ranking system, which scores candidates out of 1,000 points based on factors like age, education, work experience, language ability, and connection to Manitoba.

A “good” score depends on the draw, but competitive candidates typically have strong ties to Manitoba and high EOI scores rather than focusing on CRS.

How often are Manitoba PNP draws held?

Manitoba PNP draws are typically held on a regular basis, often every few weeks. There is no fixed schedule, and the timing and size of draws depend on provincial immigration targets and labour market demands.
