The PEI Occupations In Demand stream targets foreign workers with job offers in PEI in one of four in-demand occupations. Successful candidates are eligible to apply for Canadian permanent resident status through the Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP).

The following occupations are eligible for the PEI Occupations In Demand stream:

  • NOC 33102 (Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates)
  • NOC 73300 (Transport truck drivers),
  • NOC 75110 (Construction trades helpers and labourers), or
  • NOC 65310 (Light duty cleaners)
  • NOC 95109 (Other labourers in processing, manufacturing and utilities)
  • NOC 75101 (Material handlers)
  • NOC 94140 (Process control and machine operators food and beverage processing)
  • NOC 94141 (Industrial butchers and meat cutters, poultry preparers and related workers)

Who is eligible for the PEI Occupations In Demand stream?

In order to be eligible for the PEI Occupations In Demand PNP stream, a candidate must meet the following criteria.

Job offer in an eligible occupation

Candidates must have a full-time, non-seasonal permanent job offer from a PEI employer in one of the in-demand occupations:

  • NOC 33102 (Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates)
  • NOC 73300 (Transport truck drivers),
  • NOC 75110 (Construction trades helpers and labourers), or
  • NOC 65310 (Light duty cleaners)
  • NOC 95109 (Other labourers in processing, manufacturing and utilities)
  • NOC 75101 (Material handlers)
  • NOC 94140 (Process control and machine operators food and beverage processing)
  • NOC 94141 (Industrial butchers and meat cutters, poultry preparers and related workers)

Past work experience

Applicants must have at least one year of work experience directly related to their PEI job offer.

Age

All applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 59.

Education

Applicants must have successfully completed a minimum educational credential equal to (or above) a Canadian high school diploma (secondary school).

Language Ability

All applicants must demonstrate proficiency in either English or French. Applicants must take an approved language test and submit results at or above a Canadian Language Benchmark of Level 4 (CLB 4).

Proof of means of financial support

Applicants must show that they have enough financial resources to pay for immigration costs and costs related to establishing in PEI.

Intention to reside

Applicants must demonstrate the intention to reside in the province of Prince Edward Island.

How to apply for the PEI Occupations In Demand stream

In order to apply for the PEI Occupations In Demand stream, candidates must begin by creating and submitting a profile within the Prince Edward Island Expression of Interest system (PEI EOI system). Profiles submitted to the PEI EOI system are valid for a maximum of six months.

Certain candidates will be selected from the PEI EOI system and contacted directly by the PEI PNP. These candidates will be given the opportunity to submit an official application for provincial nomination by PEI.

Once an applicant has been approved for provincial nomination, the person may then submit an application to the federal government for Canadian permanent resident status. While waiting for federal application processing, applicants may be eligible for a work permit support letter, enabling them to obtain a work permit and begin working in PEI.
