Every year, thousands of permanent resident hopefuls living in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) submit applications in their quest to make Canada their permanent home, and it’s easy to see why — the GTA is a pretty great place to call home. However, before you can even think of enjoying the many benefits and entitlements that Canadian permanent residence provides, you will need to pass the mandated Canadian immigration medical exam. To do that, you will need a panel physician in the Toronto area who you can trust.
But with so many Panel Physicians in the GTA to choose from, how can you be sure that you’re getting the Canadian immigration medical that best meets your needs? We sat down with IRCC panel physician Dr. Zachary Seifer from the Complete Immigration Medical Centre in Brampton, Ontario to get his views on what makes a great clinic for Canadian immigration medicals.
Moving2Canada (M2C): Hi Dr. Seifer, thanks for taking the time to speak with us. First off, could you tell us a little bit about the Complete Immigration Medical Centre?
Dr. Zachary Seifer (ZS): Hi guys, no problem. So, we are situated in the heart of Brampton, Ontario, and are a fully IRCC-approved clinic. Our team of Panel Physicians and other clinic staff are dedicated to providing a professional and reliable medical service for those looking to complete all aspects of their Canadian immigration medical, particularly permanent resident applicants. We guarantee an efficient service that covers a full physical, blood, and urine tests and x-rays all under one roof.
M2C: So your area of expertise is very much in the Canadian immigration medical exam?
ZS: Yes, for sure. As well as offering a thorough, professional and affordable medical service, we employ paperless e-processing technology to ensure that your medical exam results are sent to IRCC right after your exam is completed. We find that the peace of mind that this technology offers is invaluable for our community in Brampton, Mississauga, Etobicoke and Toronto itself.
M2C: And how much is an exam at the Complete Immigration Medical Centre?
ZS: Typically, you can expect to pay $220 CAD for the exam, and an additional $40 for an x-ray exam that is mandated for many applicants, especially those applying for permanent residency. However, we do have a discounted rate of $160 for those aged 15 and under.
M2C: I noticed that you used the word community previously to describe those who attend your clinic for Canadian immigration medicals, why is that?
ZS: I use that word carefully and because I mean it. We know that the Canadian immigration medical for permanent residency can be a daunting experience and also quite stressful. That is why we go to such great lengths to make sure that the service we offer is as inclusive, supportive and convenient as possible.
M2C: Can you give us an example of how you make the process less stressful?
ZS: Of course. As you may know, Brampton, Mississauga, Etobicoke and the wider GTA is home to one of the largest and most diverse South Asian populations in all of Canada. We offer medical assistance services in Punjabi and Hindi to ensure that every permanent resident applicant who comes to us for their immigration medical exam is made to feel as comfortable as possible.
M2C: One of the biggest concerns that permanent resident applicants have when it comes to their Canadian immigration medical is time. Can you tell me how long I would have to wait if I scheduled an appointment with you today?
ZS: Good question. Well, if you were to schedule an appointment today then you would expect to wait no longer than four days for an appointment, but there’s a strong chance we could see you in two days or less.
M2C: Good to know, and the exam itself, how long should that take?
ZS: Almost all our Canadian immigration medical exams take less than two hours, with many taking less than 90 minutes.
M2C: Great. You mentioned that the Complete Immigration Medical Centre serves immigrants across the GTA. Is it easy for them to get to your clinic?
ZS: Yes, for sure. We are located close to the 410, 407, and 401 highways and offer free parking. Alternatively, if you plan on taking public transport on the day of your appointment then you can rest assured that your journey will be stress-free as the centre is located in close proximity to the GO and Brampton Transit systems.
M2C: Finally, how can immigrants in the GTA book a Canadian immigration medical with a panel physician at the Complete Immigration Medical Centre?
ZS: You can schedule an appointment here or by calling the centre at (905) 459-2700.
Thanks again to Dr. Zachary Seifer for taking time to speak with us. And, of course, there are a range of other IRCC-approved panel physicians in the GTA. You can search those here.
