Yes. IRCC is reintroducing job offer points to the CRS.

• Job offer points are assessed as part of the Labour Market Integration factor.
• Not every job offer gets points. The job must be in an eligible high-wage occupation.

Main Changes for Job Offers on November 3, 2026

IRCC is changing how it assesses job offers under Express Entry. As of November 3, 2026:

• You don’t need an LMIA for a job offer to count for program eligibility or CRS points.
• Having an LMIA will not give you more CRS points or give your profile priority.
• The job offer can be for an existing position or a new position.
• The job offer can be from an existing employer or a new employer.
• Officers will assess whether the job offer is genuine.

Express Entry Job Offer CRS Points

A job offer is worth up to 100 CRS points. The number of points depends on how the wage compares to the average median wage.

What job offer qualifies for Express Entry points?

To get job offer points, your job offer must meet both of these conditions:

• It is valid under Express Entry.
• It is for a position in an eligible high-wage occupation.

A job offer that is not in a high-wage occupation gets 0 points.

Job Offer for Federal Skilled Worker Program and Federal Skilled Trades Program applicants

If you apply through the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) or the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), a valid job offer may still help you meet program eligibility requirements, even if the job is not on the high-wage occupation list.

This is because IRCC uses different rules for:

• Program eligibility: whether you can apply under FSWP or FSTP
• CRS job offer points: whether your job offer adds points to your CRS score

IRCC assesses these two things separately. This means a job offer may help you qualify for the program but still give you 0 CRS points.

For FSWP and FSTP eligibility, a qualifying job offer is not limited to high-wage occupations. It can be in any eligible TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3 job that meets the program requirements.

Do you still need an LMIA for an Express Entry job offer?

No. As of November 3, 2026, you don’t need an LMIA for a job offer to qualify for program eligibility or CRS points.

If you already have an LMIA, it will not give you extra CRS points. It will also not give your profile priority over other candidates.

How will officers check if a job offer is genuine?

An officer checks every qualifying job offer when you apply for permanent residence. The officer must be satisfied the job offer is genuine before it can be used for program eligibility or for your Labour Market Integration factor score.

The officer will check whether the employer:

• is active in the business
• can fulfill the terms of the offer
• made an offer that meets their needs
• is following employment and recruitment laws

The officer will also check whether you:

• are qualified and able to do the work
• are likely to accept the offer and do the job

How do you add a job offer without an LMIA to your Express Entry profile?

Even though rules change on November 3, 2026, IRCC’s online system will not show the change yet. So the system will still ask you to select that you have a positive LMIA.

In your profile, go to Work history, select that you have a positive LMIA and answer the questions with the following details:

• For the question Was a positive LMIA issued for the job offer in Canada?  –  Answer: Yes
• When you are asked for the LMIA Number, add the number 00000
• When you are asked for the LMIA Issuance Date, select the date 2026-01-01
• When you are asked for the LMIA Expiry Date, select the date 2029-01-01
