Month-to-Date: September 1–17, 2025
- So far, we’ve seen 10 draws in 16 days.
- With 2,819 invitations issued so far, Alberta has already broken its monthly record – almost twice as many as the first weeks of September, four times July, and double August.
- Alberta is spreading invitations across priority sectors (aviation, agriculture, construction, health, tech, law enforcement) and the Alberta Opportunity Stream.
What These Draws Tell Us
AOS leads the way. The September 12 AOS draw brought 1,113 invitations, Alberta’s largest of 2025 so far. AOS continues to carry the biggest volumes and remains the strongest pathway for candidates already working in the province.
Alberta has more room to invite. With IRCC increasing the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) 2025 allocation to 6,403 nominations (up from 4,875), the province has extra capacity for more draws through the end of the year. This could mean continued opportunities in AOS and priority sectors.
Tech gets attention. Alberta’s decision to run a large Accelerated Tech Pathway draw – 320 invites at a score of 55 – highlights the province’s focus on tech talent. With IRCC not prioritizing STEM-category draws this year and with many tech occupations removed from eligibility, Express Entry has fewer routes open to tech candidates. Alberta’s tech draw offers one of the clearest opportunities for those in the sector, especially when other provincial programs like BC PNP have scaled back or paused tech-specific draws amid reduced nomination allocations.
Law enforcement stays niche. The September 17 Law Enforcement Pathway invited fewer than 10 candidates at 56 points. While volumes are small, the steady draws show ongoing demand for specialized skills in this field.
Cut-offs vary by pathway. AOS required 63 points, while Tech and Law Enforcement draws landed lower at 55–56. Alberta continues to balance large general draws with smaller sector-specific selections, each with different score dynamics.

Key Takeaways for Candidates
- AOS continues to drive volume. If you’re already living and working in Alberta, the Opportunity Stream offers the broadest pathway. With over 1,100 invites in a single draw this month, it remains the best bet for candidates with eligible occupations and local ties.
- Tech candidates have a strong pathway. The Accelerated Tech Pathway issued 320 invitations at a relatively low score of 55. With no federal STEM draws this year and fewer tech-targeted PNP options elsewhere, Alberta’s tech draws stand out. Keeping your Express Entry profile up-to-date ensures you’re ready when they happen.
- Niche pathways are still pathways. Law Enforcement draws remain small – fewer than 10 invitations – but they keep showing up. If you qualify, even niche pathways like this can create an opening.
