During this time, we saw a large Alberta Opportunity Stream (AOS) draw as well as a major Accelerated Tech Pathway draw. This draw saw 320 invitations at a low score of 55, offering hope for local tech talent while federal STEM draws remain paused. Lastly, a small law enforcement draw rounds out the mid-September round.

AOS leads the way. The September 12 AOS draw brought 1,113 invitations, Alberta’s largest of 2025 so far. AOS continues to carry the biggest volumes and remains the strongest pathway for candidates already working in the province.
Alberta has more room to invite. With IRCC increasing the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) 2025 allocation to 6,403 nominations (up from 4,875), the province has extra capacity for more draws through the end of the year. This could mean continued opportunities in AOS and priority sectors.
Tech gets attention. Alberta’s decision to run a large Accelerated Tech Pathway draw – 320 invites at a score of 55 – highlights the province’s focus on tech talent. With IRCC not prioritizing STEM-category draws this year and with many tech occupations removed from eligibility, Express Entry has fewer routes open to tech candidates. Alberta’s tech draw offers one of the clearest opportunities for those in the sector, especially when other provincial programs like BC PNP have scaled back or paused tech-specific draws amid reduced nomination allocations.
Law enforcement stays niche. The September 17 Law Enforcement Pathway invited fewer than 10 candidates at 56 points. While volumes are small, the steady draws show ongoing demand for specialized skills in this field.
Cut-offs vary by pathway. AOS required 63 points, while Tech and Law Enforcement draws landed lower at 55–56. Alberta continues to balance large general draws with smaller sector-specific selections, each with different score dynamics.
