How Does the October 17, 2025 PEI Draw Compare?

The 160 invitations sent out in October is a small increase from the 129 in the previous draw on September 19, 2025. This shows that things are still moving forward with a steady stream of nominations.

Here’s a breakdown of draws so far in 2025:

  • Healthcare-focused draw (Jan): 22 invitations
  • Economic impact and retention-focused draws (Feb–May): 87, 124, 168, 168 invitations respectively
  • Summer draws (June–Aug): 52, 39, and 132 invitations
  • Fall draws (Sept–Oct): 129 and 160 invitation

Annual totals to date (Jan–Oct 2025):

  • Business Invitations: 1
  • Labour Invitations: 1,080
  • Total Invitations: 1,081

Several trends continue to define PEI’s 2025 PNP nomination strategy:

  1. Strong focus on retention

Most of the draws this year have favored candidates who already live or work in PEI or who have graduated from a local college or university. This plan helps the province reach its goal of retaining skilled workers who already have ties to the community and to employers.

  1. Limited business immigration

There has still been only one entrepreneur invitation issued in 2025, reflecting PEI’s limited intake under the Business Work Permit stream.

  1. Consistent draw volumes

The number of invitations changes slightly from month to month, with some smaller draws than in the last couple of months. However, PEI averages around 100 invitations per draw, remaining in line with job market needs.

  1. Broader sector coverage

After starting the year with a focus on healthcare, the province has continued to target a number of priority sectors, to support its long-term economic growth goals.

As 2025 draws closer to winter, PEI is likely to keep its focus on local retention of skilled workers and graduates. This means that securing employment with a PEI-based employer or completing studies at a PEI institution is still one of the best ways for those who seek permanent residency through the PEI PNP.
