- This week, Canada held two Express Entry draws: a General draw and a category-based draw focusing on STEM occupations.
- In the General draw held on April 10, a total of 1,280 candidates were invited to apply for PR!
- Notably, this draw featured the highest CRS cut-off score for a General draw in 2024, set at 549 points.
- This high threshold indicates its competitive nature, with 1,093 invitations likely going to candidates with CRS scores above 600.
- To achieve such high scores, additional points from PNP nominations or job offers are crucial.
- Shifting focus to the STEM draw on April 11, a total of 4,500 candidates were invited, with a CRS cut-off score of 491 points.
- This is the first STEM-specific draw of 2024.
- Additionally, this has only been the third time a STEM-specific draw has been done since IRCC introduced category-based draws last year, underscoring its rarity.
- For context, there have been more French-language proficiency draws conducted this year alone than STEM draws.
- So, if you’re thinking about what skills to work on or what to be good at to have a better chance of getting selected for PR, this info could be a big hint.
