Other Requirements For Luxembourgish IEC Participants

Luxembourgish IECers will still need to meet all eligibility requirements to receive their IEC work permit, regardless of their age.

You must:

  • Be a citizen (passport holder) of Luxembourg or one of the other countries that have a “bilateral youth mobility agreement” with Canada (or meet the Registered Organization exceptions).
  • Have a valid passport for the duration of the stay in Canada (the work permit issued will not be longer than the validity of the passport).
  • Be between the ages of 18 and 35 (inclusive) when your profile is selected from the pool.
  • Have the equivalent of at least CAD$2,500 on landing to help cover initial expenses.
  • Be able to take out health insurance for the full duration of their Working Holiday Visa in Canada. Get a free comparative quote for IEC health insurance.
  • Be admissible to Canada.
  • Have, prior to departure, a round-trip ticket or the financial resources to purchase a departure ticket for the end of their authorized stay in Canada.
  • Not be accompanied by dependants.
  • Pay the appropriate fees.

What If You’ve Already Participated In An IEC Program In Canada?

If you’re a citizen of Luxembourg and you have already participated in an IEC program prior to the increased age eligibility coming into effect, you won’t be eligible for a repeat participation. The bilateral agreement still specifies one participation.

But you may be able to continue to live in or return to Canada using a recognized organization

Step 1: Identify a recognized organization that could potentially help you, based on the details per organization in the tables below. Currently, only Go and Stepwest offer repeat participation for those from IEC-eligible countries who previously obtained an IEC work permit.

Step 2: Reach out directly to the given recognized organization for details on eligibility and process. A link to each organization’s website is placed above each table below.

Step 3: This may depend on the situation. Variables may include: your country of citizenship, the IEC category you intend to apply under, and the recognized organization assisting you. If you have any difficulty navigating the process, Moving2Canada offers:
