Key Takeaways From This Draw
- AIP continues to climb: After a record 135 invitations on September 12, the Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) has once again passed 100, showing Newfoundland’s increasing focus on employer-driven hiring.
- NLPNP steady but smaller: Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) remains strong overall, but its share dipped below AIP in this round.
- Balanced strategy: By drawing from both streams, the province is addressing both immediate labour needs and longer-term workforce planning.

Key Trends in NLPNP & AIP
While NLPNP still accounts for most of Newfoundland and Labrador’s invitations this year, AIP has played a bigger role in recent months. AIP totals stayed smaller through the spring (47–63 per draw) but jumped in late summer and fall, hitting 77 (Aug 29), 135 (Sept 12), and 110 (Sept 26). NLPNP still accounts for most invitations in 2025, but AIP’s growing share could show how employer-driven recruitment is becoming a larger part of the province’s strategy.
What Candidates Can Do
- If you’re a worker with a job offer in Newfoundland and Labrador: AIP may be the fastest route, since employers can directly support your application.
- If you’re already in the province or aligned with priority sectors: NLPNP remains a strong pathway, especially for skilled trades, tech, and health care.
- Keep documents updated. Both streams require timely submission of forms, settlement plans (for AIP), and employer/job details. Making sure your profile is accurate helps you respond quickly when invitations are issued.

NLPNP in a Nutshell
The Newfoundland and Labrador Provincial Nominee Program (NLPNP) allows the province to nominate foreign workers, international graduates, and skilled professionals for Canadian permanent residence when their skills align with local labour needs.
The Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP) complements NLPNP by giving designated employers a direct way to hire international talent with a job offer and settlement plan.
Together, these programs form a dual-track immigration strategy that Newfoundland and Labrador is using actively in 2025 to respond to both long-term and immediate labour gaps.
