Our Analysis of This Express Entry Draw
The 1,000 invitations and 531 cut-off fit neatly into the streak we’ve seen since August. That slight dip from 533 to 531 does feel noteworthy, though. It’s small, yes, but after five straight draws hovering around the same mark, a two-point drop can genuinely be the difference between landing an invite and missing the cut.
If you zoom out a little, CEC has seen 24,850 invitations issued so far in 2025. That’s well below the volume of CEC invitations many people were expecting based on last year’s Levels Plan.

What today’s draw means for candidates
With today’s dip to 531, we finally see the smallest hint of movement, making it the lowest score since July. For many candidates sitting in the low 530s, there’s renewed hope that we may start to see scores shift lower. But the reality is that we would need to see these draws continue for a few months before we can be certain the decrease will continue. Unfortunately, if we had to guess based on the data we have today, we would predict that scores will hover around this mark – and possibly even increase slightly in the next bi-weekly round, due to the number of people whose scores will increase during this time.
If you’re sitting in the CEC pool right now, today’s round should be cause for some optimism that we will continue to see bi-weekly rounds inviting 1,000 candidates each. We hope this trend continues. However, there may be slow progress when it comes to scores decreasing, depending on what happens in the pool at the 525+ range.
Early reactions from the Express Entry community were a mix of relief, frustration, and cautious optimism. Some people were genuinely impressed to see the CRS budge at all, even if only by two points. Candidates in the low 530s said they finally feel within reach, while those with lower scores admitted the wait is starting to wear on them.

Under Express Entry, your profile is scored using the CRS system, same as the other programs. The advantage for CEC candidates is that Canadian experience tends to bump scores higher and make candidates more competitive. And the performance data backs it up: CEC newcomers consistently rank among the strongest economic performers after landing. They tend to settle into stable jobs faster, earn higher wages sooner, and move up the ladder more quickly than many other groups in the Express Entry mix.
