Today’s PNP-specific Express Entry draw issued just 125 invitations, with a minimum CRS score of 784. This brings the total number of ITAs issued to PNP candidates in 2025 to 4,992 so far.
With only 125 invitations, this is the second smallest PNP-only draw on record – a clear sign of the ongoing impact of reduced PNP allocations this year. As provinces navigate tighter nomination limits, fewer candidates are being selected through PNP streams – and that’s being reflected in the increasingly small and infrequent draw sizes.
Adding to the uncertainty, today’s draw happened on a Tuesday, breaking the Monday pattern we’ve seen over the past several months – including a draw just last week. While the unexpected draw has sparked some hope that additional draws may follow later this week, it’s also a reminder that Express Entry draws remain impossible to predict.
For many applicants, this lack of predictability adds significant stress. While IRCC has committed to improving program delivery, shortfalls remain when it comes to transparency and communication, even though there are simple steps that could help address this. Introducing a consistent draw schedule would be a meaningful move toward reducing applicant anxiety and building greater trust in the system.
We dive deeper into this issue and explore other steps IRCC could take to make the Express Entry process more transparent and applicant-friendly
The rapid growth we saw within the Express Entry pool appears to be slowing, compared to the surge between May 13 and June 1. As of June 9, the pool reached 256,653 profiles – up from 255,030 on June 2 – a net increase of 1,623 profiles over eight days. While still a notable rise, it’s a slower pace than the jump of over 5,000 profiles across 19 days at the end of May.
Much of this recent growth remains concentrated in the higher CRS ranges. There were 173 net new candidates in the 501–600 CRS range, and 760 new candidates in the 451–500 range. This steady influx of high-scoring applicants underscores how competitive the Express Entry system continues to be.
With more highly skilled individuals entering the pool, securing an Invitation to Apply is becoming increasingly difficult. Now more than ever, it’s essential to review your profile carefully and make sure you’re claiming every CRS point you’re eligible for.
If you’re not familiar with Canada’s Express Entry system, it’s an application management system used to manage economic immigrants to Canada. The benefits of the Express Entry system are that it offers streamlined application timelines for people who are ranked highly and invited to apply for permanent residence. After you receive an invitation and submit your application, it usually takes IRCC around 6 months to make a decision. This is much faster than other pathways to permanent residence — like family sponsorship, which takes around 24 months as of April 28, 2025.
With that in mind, the Provincial Nominee Program is a program that’s offered at the provincial level but then managed and approved at the federal level. Some PNPs require you to be eligible for Express Entry, so they can be inter-related, but there are also PNPs that allow you to immigrate even if you don’t qualify for Express Entry.
