Our Analysis of This Week’s Express Entry Draw
This week’s Provincial Nominee Program-specific Express Entry draw came early. Rather than waiting for tomorrow to follow the usual trend of a PNP draw every other Tuesday, IRCC has taken us by surprise with a PNP draw on Monday of this week. This just goes to show that when it comes to predicting draws, IRCC keeps you guessing.
Today’s draw comes with a slight increase in the CRS cut-off, compared to the last PNP draw on August 13th. But even with a higher CRS cut-off, more invitations were issued this draw, suggesting an uptake in the number of applicants with a PNP nomination.
Given the timing of today’s draw, we are interested in seeing what happens for the rest of the week. Following past trends, we expected to see a CEC draw on Wednesday and a category-based draw on Thursday. This could now shift to another draw on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. Be sure to sign up for our newsletter to be informed of the next draw, as it happens.

Comparisons to Previous PNP Draw
The August 26 draw is a larger PNP draw than the prior draw on August 13, which only saw 763 invitations issued. The CRS cut-off did increase from 690 to 694, which shows that competition is increasing among candidates eligible for a PNP nomination. Following today’s draw, we will likely not see another PNP draw in August 2024.
August has been a relatively slow month for PNP candidates so far, with only 1,884 invitations issued through Express Entry — though provinces continue to invite and nominate other candidates who may be invited at the federal level through Express Entry at a later date.
The number of provincial nominees invited through Express Entry in August is significantly lower compared to July when 3,275 candidates received invitations, and May, when 2,985 candidates were invited. However, August’s numbers did surpass those of June, when only 1,499 invitations were issued through PNP-specific Express Entry draws.
