About the Author

Born and raised in New Delhi, India, Sugandha moved to Canada as a permanent resident in early 2020, just weeks before the pandemic shut everything down. She has first-hand experience with many common newcomer challenges, including navigating the Express Entry system, finding a job without Canadian experience, and figuring out small talk. To deepen her understanding of the field, she is currently pursuing a Graduate Diploma in Immigration & Citizenship Law at Queen’s University.

With over a decade of experience in content strategy, marketing, and policy communications, Sugandha specializes in translating complex topics into clear, practical guidance. She combines data-driven analysis with empathetic storytelling, helping readers get the information they need without feeling overwhelmed.

She absolutely adores Canadian winters (yes, even in Calgary). Ironically, as a newcomer, it was the summer heat, not the cold, that caught her off guard. When she’s not writing, you’ll find her chasing after her toddler or sipping chai — sometimes both at once.
