As the 2024 International Experience Canada (IEC) season comes to an end, your final opportunity to secure an invitation is here. The last round of invitations for all remaining pools will take place next week, the week of October 21, 2024.

If you’re still hoping to participate, you must act quickly. Profiles must be submitted by 9 a.m. Eastern Time on October 21, 2024 to be considered for this year’s program.

Whether you’re in the Working Holiday, Young Professionals, or International Co-op (Internship) category, this is your last chance for the 2024 season. Let’s dive into what you need to know as the IEC program closes for this year.

Key Takeaways

  • The final round of invitations for IEC 2024 will happen the week of October 21.
  • You must submit your profile by 9 a.m. Eastern Time on October 21, 2024 to be eligible to receive an invitation for the 2024 season.
  • If you receive an invitation before the season closes, you can still complete your work permit application after the rounds of invitations conclude.
  • Those who don’t get an invitation this year will need to wait for the 2025 season or consider alternatives to the IEC program.

When Will The 2024 IEC Season Close?

The 2024 IEC season will officially close after the final round of invitations during the week of October 21. Once these invitations are issued, no further invitations will be sent out for the year. This applies to all three categories—Working Holiday, Young Professionals, and International Co-op. After this, the pools will close, and the next opportunity will be in 2025.

If you’re still in the pool and waiting for an invitation, this is the last chance to receive one for the 2024 season.

Can I Still Submit a Profile For 2024?

Yes, you can still submit a profile for IEC 2024, but time is running out. To be eligible for the final round of invitations, you must submit your profile by 9 a.m. Eastern Time on October 21, 2024. After this deadline, no new profiles will be accepted for this year’s pools.

Submitting a profile doesn’t guarantee you’ll receive an invitation, but it’s a necessary step if you want to be considered. Be sure to submit before the deadline to give yourself a chance in the final round of invitations.

What If I Don’t Get an IEC Invitation This Year?

If you don’t receive an invitation to apply (ITA) for IEC 2024, don’t be discouraged. The 2025 IEC season is expected to open early next year, with the first round of invitations typically going out in January.

The pool will likely open for you to submit your profile for the 2025 IEC season in late December 2024. You can prepare for next year by ensuring your documents are up to date and reviewing any eligibility requirements.

In the meantime, staying informed and preparing for the next round will give you an edge when the pools reopen. Keep an eye out for updates on the IEC 2025 season, so you’re ready to apply as soon as the new season begins.

Will There Be Changes For the 2024 IEC Season?

The Canadian government plans to introduce immigration level targets for temporary residents in 2025. IEC participants are temporary residents in Canada and will be included in the levels planning, but that doesn’t mean there will be reductions in the number of IEC work permits available in 2025.

The levels of IEC participants is determined through diplomatic discussions each year. So we will need to wait and see how these discussions go and get more information from IRCC. It’s not helpful to speculate whether IEC permits will be limited next year.

What’s Next For IECers?

The closing of the 2024 IEC season marks the end of an exciting year for participants from around the world. If you were lucky enough to receive an invitation, congratulations! For those still hoping to get an invitation in the final rounds, don’t forget to submit your profile by the deadline. And if you miss out, there’s always next year – or you should start looking for alternatives to the IEC program in Canada.

Stay tuned for future updates on the 2025 IEC season and continue preparing for your Canadian adventure! Don’t forget to sign up for a Moving2Canada account to get real-time updates about IEC rounds.
