How This Draw Fits Ontario’s 2025 Strategy
Ontario’s latest OINP draw keeps the trend we have seen earlier this year. This includes the healthcare and early childhood education draws from June, September, and October. Ontario is still focused on jobs experiencing labour shortages. This includes positions in hospitals, long-term care homes, and child care.
With the December round, Ontario has issued over 11,000 invitations in 2025. This draw continues the shift toward selecting people who are already living and working in Canada. This matches what we’re seeing across the country: provinces want to keep the workers they already have.
What This Means for Candidates
Healthcare and childcare workers remain top priorities in Ontario, based on recent draw trends. Applicants in these sectors with strong job offers are highly competitive.
Regional pathways continue to be prioritized, too. Through REDI, Ontario is encouraging newcomers to build careers in communities beyond the GTA.
Employer involvement is key. To apply, employers must first register in the OINP Employer Portal. This step is essential for all Employer Job Offer streams.
Ontario’s latest draws show that fewer nomination spots in 2025 means more careful selection. This trend may continue through 2026, so Ontario can fill important jobs and support communities across the province.
