Ontario's provincial nominee program (OINP) issued 13,663 invitations to apply in the first half of 2026.
This flurry of activity preceded a substantial revamping of the existing Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program streams. Although the OINP is currently closed to new Expressions of Interest, and the province has not disclosed how many OINP nominations have been issued against its 14,119 allocation, reviewing the program’s performance in the first half of 2026 may help you plan ahead.
Key Takeaways
- OINP issued 13,663 invitations to apply in the first half of 2026. If all the ITAs were to result in nominations, OINP would be able to fill 96.8 percent of its 14,119 annual allocation.
- The Employer Job Offer stream accounted for 11,635 of those ITAs. Health care and early childhood education candidates received the most invitations of any occupation-specific category, with 3,302 ITAs.
- Ontario recently replaced eight PNP streams with a single Ontario Workforce Priority stream. The program’s EOI system is expected to open later this summer.
- The Master’s Graduate and PhD Graduate streams, which together accounted for 2,028 ITAs in the first half of 2026, were revoked.

OINP Invitations to Apply Between January and June 2026
Ontario received a 2026 allocation of 14,119 nomination spaces for its PNP program. Although the province has not released any information about how much of the allocation has been used, we do have data about the invitations to apply issued by the province.
By the halfway mark of 2026, OINP had issued 13,663 ITAs to candidates. Not all ITAs necessarily lead to nominations. It is also possible that some ITAs from last year might result in nominations this year.
Here’s a breakdown of the ITAs that have been issued so far in 2026:
Ontario Employer Job Offer Stream
The vast majority of ITAs (11,635) were issued under this umbrella stream.
These included a mix of location specific job offers, including in Northern Ontario (360), GTA (1,494), or Lanark or Leeds and Grenville (118), as well as for Francophone candidates with a job offer (146).
ITAs under the Employer Job Offer stream also included occupation-specific rounds, including some for health care or early childhood education (3,302), physicians (241), skilled trades (1,404), mining (759), agriculture and other priority occupations (1,334).
Master’s and PhD Graduate Stream
Ontario conducted two rounds of invitations for the Master’s and PhD graduate stream. 1,259 invitations to apply were issued to master’s graduates and 769 to PhD graduates. Both these streams have now been revoked as part of the OINP overhaul.
The June OINP Overhaul
On June 26, Ontario replaced eight of its existing immigration streams with a single new pathway called the Ontario Workforce Priority stream. The new stream has three pathways: one for workers in TEER 0-3 occupations, one for TEER 4-5 workers, and one for self-employed physicians. A job offer from an Ontario employer is a mandatory requirement for most applicants.
The Master’s Graduate and PhD Graduate streams, which together accounted for 2,028 of the ITAs issued in the first half of the year, were permanently revoked as part of the changes.
What to Watch for in the Second Half of 2026
With more than 13,600 ITAs already issued against a nomination allocation of 14,119, activity in the second half of 2026 depends on two things: how many of those ITAs convert to nominations, and how much room remains once the new Workforce Priority stream opens.
Ontario’s EOI system is currently closed while the province updates its platforms. If your EOI was registered under one of the former streams and did not receive an invitation, it will be withdrawn. You will need to wait for the new EOI system to open later this summer to register again. The eligibility criteria under the new stream are different from the old ones, so reviewing the new requirements now is a practical use of your time before the system reopens.
