PEI. had already held its last scheduled draw on December 15, 2025, issuing 166 invitations. That round also took place a few days earlier than the date listed in the province’s published schedule. While PEI. hasn’t confirmed why this additional draw was held, it likely reflects the province issuing some of its remaining nominations before the year comes to an end.
With this update, PEI. has now issued a total of 1,609 invitations in 2025.

Most PEI PNP draws in 2025 followed a steady pattern across fourteen invitation rounds. The province held draws about once a month and usually invited 120 to 190 candidates. The largest draw was on November 20, when 190 invitations were issued. Several other draws invited around 160 to 170 candidates, including April, May, October, and December 15.
By comparison, the latest December 23 draw was much smaller, with only 13 invitations issued. That makes it one of the lowest totals of the year, similar only to the January draw (22 invitations) and smaller than the summer draws in June and July.
What makes this draw stand out, though, is the timing. PEI already held a draw on December 15, a few days earlier than the date listed on the province’s schedule. The extra draw on December 23 may mean PEI was using some of its remaining nomination spots before the year ends, even though only a small number of invitations were issued.

For candidates, the key takeaway remains consistent: PEI continues to prioritize workers already contributing to the island’s economy. Even when invitation numbers are small, the province’s focus stays centred on priority sectors and practical labour needs.
Right now, we don’t know for sure what Prince Edward Island’s PNP priorities will look like in 2026. PEI has not confirmed how many nomination spots it will get in 2026. The province receives these spots from the federal government, but the new numbers have not been shared publicly yet.
That said, PEI’s overall selection system is fairly consistent. The province uses an Expression of Interest (EOI) ranking system, where candidates are scored and ranked, then invited based on who is most likely to support PEI’s labour market needs. In other words, PEI tends to select applicants who match current workforce gaps and are well-positioned to settle and stay long term.
It’s likely the province will keep a similar focus in 2026, but priorities can change based on labour shortages, nomination space, and economic needs. Until PEI releases its updated allocation and selection details, it’s still too early to confirm exactly what the 2026 draws will target.
