Irish in Canada — Useful links

– The Irish Canadian Immigration Centre (I/CAN) was established in January 2012 to assist in meeting the needs of newly arrived Irish newcomers to Canada by offering outreach and information on areas such as employment, accommodation, social services and immigration. It plays a crucial role in supporting the Irish in Canada.

Crosscare Migrant Project is the main NGO based in Ireland that provides a pre-departure information and support service to Irish emigrants.
We are part funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs to provide this service. We have a drop in service in Dublin city centre that is open office hours
Monday to Friday and we have a range of web based information on various countries and visa options at www.migrantproject.ie
We also assist Irish emigrants abroad who are thinking of returning home and need support or information.

– This Government of Canada webpage contains information on IEC visas. These open work permits allow citizens of Ireland to work in Canada for up to two years.

– The Gaelic Hour presents an eclectic mix of programming that includes literature, the arts, history, cultural topics, music and features of local interest. Broadcasting since September 2005, the show has featured many high profile internationally known personalities including Sinead O’Connor, Tommy Tiernan, Christy Moore, Daniel O’Donnell and many many more. While much of the content has an Irish focus, other Celtic/Gaelic ethnic topics and music are regularly featured.
