Large General Contractor is seeking a Scheduler to focus on infrastructure projects in Vancouver. Reporting to the Scheduling Lead, the Scheduler will create schedules based on project requirements with input from internal departments, joint venture partners and applicable owners. In addition to the development of project schedules during the preconstruction phase, the role includes maintenance of and the auditing of progress of schedules during project execution.

Responsibilities:

  • During the entire life cycle of a project, from preconstruction to total completion, assist in the development and maintenance of multiple project schedules. Schedules will reflect the strategy of the Project Delivery
  • Team, include a clearly defined critical path, incorporate the project interfaces and their associated impacts, including external dependencies, and third-party obligations
  • Create project baseline schedules based on the design drawings, scope of work, owner requirements and construction team inputs. Where practical, align the WBS for the schedule with the estimate for the project
  • Resource load the baseline schedule
  • Produce the cash flow for the project
  • Produce graphical representations of the project schedule (TILOS)
  • Monitor the progress of activities on site thru field inspections and site input from the delivery team throughout entire delivery program (design, procurement, PLAA, construction, testing and commissioning and Close out);
  • In collaboration with the project team, update the project schedule based on actual site progress and propose solutions to challenges that are negatively impacting site progress;
  • Interact with Construction team to define scope of work to develop schedules with resources and cost information
  • Create work breakdown structures and set the schedule up to utilize WBS codes and Construction work, Develop Critical Path Method (CPM)
  • Perform schedule impact analysis for owner initiated changes;
  • Provide schedule impact analysis to support claims;
  • QA/QC review of schedule submissions for conformance;
  • Prepare reports related to project progress as requested by the regional office;
  • Participate in site reviews and project meetings as needed;
  • Update, maintain and revise monthly and weekly schedules, compare, and report on monthly basis and identify variances from original plan;
  • Update schedules with actual field progress and forecast remaining durations, project milestones, and completion dates;
  • Prepare and issue schedule analysis narratives and reports including recommendations for corrective actions to be used by project teams to manage the work;
  • Perform changes to the schedule as a result of project delays and/or accelerations;
  • Assist Operations with short term schedules.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • At least 5 years of scheduling or planning experience within the commercial and/or civil construction industry;
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and a strong understanding of construction means and methods, and associated timelines;
  • Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Primavera 6 and MS Project scheduling software;
  • TILOS experience is considered a valuable skill;
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative;
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives;
  • Strong communication, organization and attention to detail.

  • Salary range $140k+ based on experience
