Teaching English in Canada

Most newcomers will need fairly comprehensive (i.e. a 120-hour) TEFL, TOEFl or CELTA certificate, or better still a Canadian certified ESL online or other qualification, to find TEFL work in Canada. Be aware, however, that there is a wide range of ESL schools here. It’s a very big business with so many immigrants learning English and French, and many schools are sub-standard and abuse workers. The reputable ones that pay well usually require ‘Canadian TEFL’ certification.

If you have two or more years of teaching experience then that counts massively in your favour. Bear in mind that while your looking for something stable you can advertise your tutoring services on Craigslist.
