New Express Entry report gives fresh hope to candidates

First official snapshot of how the system is performing in new Express Entry report.

Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has revealed that the pool of candidates in the Express Entry system is growing at a rate of 1,500 per week.

The figure is contained in a new report that provides a snapshot of the system and evaluates its performance over the first six months of 2015.

Express Entry was launched in January this year as a new way to process applicants for certain economic immigration programs, including the Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, Canadian Experience Class and a portion of the Provincial Nominee program.

The report gives fresh hope to both existing and prospective candidates, as it reveals that the Express Entry pool is set to become “the main source of applications to meet Canadian immigration levels targets”.

It adds that this will happen as older systems are phased out, prompting optimism that the number of Invitations to Apply will increase.

The report revealed where candidates stand within the pool, by giving a snapshot of the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score distribution of candidates on July 6. It was as follows:

The latest Express Entry draw on July 17 saw the number of CRS points required by candidates fall to its lowest level out of all 13 draws to date. Analysts are predicting that the required points will fall to below 400 by the end of the year.
